Matenneh Siryon, a 30-year-old mother of eight children.
She recently embarked on a courageous journey to protect her youngest, three-month-old Massa. Living in Mannah's Town, a rural community in Gbarpolu County, Liberia, Matenneh knew how crucial it was to vaccinate her baby.
Despite facing numerous challenges, including rough terrain and a four-hour walk to the Gokalah Clinic in Bopolu District, Matenneh's determination never wavered. She persevered with Massa in her arms, knowing her child's health was worth the effort.
At the Gokalah Clinic, Matenneh found solace in the well-equipped facilities and friendly, knowledgeable nurses. Massa was swiftly vaccinated and given a clean bill of health, bringing immense relief to this loving mother.
Matenneh's inspiring story serves as a reminder of the significance of vaccine access. In Liberia, poverty and distance often hinder children from receiving life-saving vaccines. But with UNICEF's dedication to addressing these barriers, they strive to ensure all children in Liberia have access to the necessary vaccines.
"I am so grateful to UNICEF for making it possible for me to get Massa vaccinated," expressed Matenneh. "This will help protect her from preventable diseases." Let us celebrate Matenneh's love and determination and join hands in supporting UNICEF's mission to reach every child in Liberia with life-saving vaccines! With UNICEF’s ACT-A Supplies Financing Facility (“ACT-A SFF”) support, we can continue to work to protect children and save lives.
