NATIONAL ACTION PLAN ON BUSINESS AND HUMAN RIGHTS
We’re excited to share that Liberia has just launched on 14 August its first-ever National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights for 2024-2028. With guidance from OHCHR, this plan is all about ensuring that business practices in Liberia respect human rights across the board. This is a huge step for Liberia, showing a strong commitment to making sure economic growth doesn’t come at the expense of human rights. The UN is proud to support this initiative and look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have.
The plan targets crucial areas like safeguarding community land rights, making workplaces safer and more inclusive, ensuring people can seek justice when their rights are violated, promoting sustainable business practices, enhancing transparency to fight corruption, and addressing the unique challenges faced by women, people with disabilities, and other marginalized groups.
